To cultivate 5G talent, Rafael Micro donated NT$1 million to National Chiao Tung University’s Department of Electrical Engineering on July 1 to upgrade the 5G Mobile Broadband Laboratory.
Chairman Ken-Hsi Lin and CEO Ted Sun noted that 5G’s bandwidth, density and low latency make it central to Taiwan’s digital economy plan. Since 2006 Rafael Micro has focused on RF IC design and is developing TIAs for 5G base stations. The donation supports higher education in 5G.
With Rafael’s support the lab added mmWave modules — 8×8 phased-array antennas and up/down converters with hybrid beamforming and dual polarization at 28 GHz (up to 2 GHz bandwidth) — suited to small-cell RRH front ends and academic 5G mmWave research. Details: read more
