In October 2022 the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) released Matter 1.0 and opened certification. More than 280 technology companies — including Apple, Google and Amazon — have joined. ABI Research estimates over 5.5 billion Matter-compatible smart-home devices will ship from 2022 to 2030, making Matter a key driver of the next IoT wave.
Matter is built on IPv6 for cross-brand/platform interoperability, stronger security and privacy, simpler development, and better purchase compatibility for consumers.
Rafael Micro presented at the 2023 “Arm IoT and Matter Online Technical Seminar” to help customers plan and develop Matter products. Speakers included Arm IoT leaders, CSA, MediaTek, Silicon Labs, D-Link and Allion. Cashew Chen, VP of Marketing at Rafael Micro, shared Matter’s industry impact, development challenges, application scenarios and Rafael Micro’s Matter SoC solutions.
