Rafael Microelectronics held an investor conference on August 27 to update full-year performance and market outlook.
Rafael Micro focuses on high-end broadband RF and extends into data and high-speed optical communications, with product lines covering 4K/8K TV receivers, STB receivers, satellite LNB and multi-switch, high-speed optical chips, and dual-mode IoT connectivity — serving both consumer markets and 5G optical infrastructure and IoT.
President Yung-Chien Li noted that H1 was hit by the pandemic with a trough in April–May, but June recovered. H1 consolidated revenue was NT$395 million with EPS NT$1.98. July shipment momentum strengthened and should extend into 2021. Beyond TV, STB and satellite returning to normal, dual-mode wireless and high-speed optical lines will add growth as 5G infrastructure rolls out globally.
On TV, Rafael Micro holds about 50% of global silicon tuner share. Japan is broadcasting ISDB-S3 for 8K; Korean and Japanese module customers using Rafael tuners are sampling to Japanese TV brands. On STB, AccuTune™ and TrueRF enable a full global standard lineup; Rafael is the only Asian supplier of hybrid and dual-tuner STB RF and the only global supplier of optical-tuner STB solutions, with over 45% share. On satellite, Rafael holds ~30% of single-channel LNB and over 80% of dual/quad, and is Asia’s only Multi-PLL/CSS supplier.
VP Cashew Chen said optical AOC chips now cover HDMI 2.0/2.1, DP1.4 and USB3.2 for hundreds of meters of interference-free high-speed video, with USB4/USB-C ahead. For telecom, CMOS chips target 10G EPON and XG/XGS-PON as operators expand FTTX, 5G fronthaul and enterprise cloud networks.
For IoT, Rafael Micro launched a Bluetooth 5.0/Sub-GHz dual-mode low-power transceiver with SPI MCU interface, −high RX sensitivity and built-in 10 dBm TX; Bluetooth range measured to 300 m, with Sub-GHz mesh linking over 2,000 sensor nodes. Wi-SUN/Zigbee and BT5.0 IoT devices will add further 2021 growth.
